The whole plant of Scilla Scilloide is toxic,
and the main toxic components are proscillaridin A, scallion glycosides, high
isoflavones, triterpenes and their glycosides, xanthrones, lignans, and
scallions.
Scilla Scilloide has a heart-strengthening
effect like digitalis, shortness of breath, dilated pupils, prominent eyeballs,
and obvious hypoxia.
It is similar to the symptoms of oleander
poisoning, and it quickly causes suffocation and death. Large amounts of Scilla
Scilloide can cause cramps when poisoned, similar to ergot.
